  I went in to get my 6 month free cleaning that my Insurance provides While already in the chair the Cleaning person or whatever they are comes back and says that my insurance wasn't gonna cover the extra time needed to clean my teeth because it had been a while . I knew I couldn't afford the extra money and I was adamant with the office that if any cost was going to have to come out of my pocket that I couldn't afford it and and if the Insurance didn't cover any of it we would have to end the cleaning because I couldn't rack up any charges because i would not be able to pay I was very clear about this !! The person tells me to wait a bit to see what they can do. She comes back as says everythings fine and she finishes the cleaning!! Fast forward about 10 months My Wife who is on the same insurance has a bad tooth that needs to be pulled so she calls to make an appointment. They tell her they will not see her because I owe them 60 dollars for the extra time for the cleaning that I told them I could not pay and if there was to be any cost they needed to stop! So my wife explained to them what i said and they treated her like garbage for no reason she didn't owe them anything I supposedly did, which i shouldn't have owed them anything so we got the whatever we will just pay it attitude knowing it was Bullcrap !! But than they call back and told her that even if she did pay the 60 dollars now they still wouldn't help her WTF!!! She did nothing to them to deserve to be treated the way they treated her especially over 60 dollars that we didnt even know about and she had nothing to do with !!! So if you are considering using this dentist office watch out they will slide in bills behind your back and than treat your family like crap when they are needing their help Shady shady shady!!!

  My family has been seeing Dr Hood and going to Houghton Lake Dental Associates for many years. Dr Hood and his staff have always been friendly, professional and helpful. Dr Hood is gentle and I have always appreciated that they let me know up front what cost will be. I have never had dental insurance and I find that the cost at HLDA is fair.
